Dinner with Channeling, as usual, consists of conversing in Modern Balreqiean and eating pasta while trying to figure out the hidden barbs that Channeling and Mythen throw at each other.
They look to me to referee them in a foreign language. Channeling makes an offhand comment, and Mythen looks at me with that look on her face: 'Can't you tell me what he really means?'
Leaving me to wonder why they can't trade catty insults in a language they both know well, like Pure Balreqiean.
On the ride home, we speak French, because Modern Balreqiean is only for intimate situations.
