We live together, we work together. We get ready to go to work together. There is always a veil, a distance between us. We can maintain it when we're naked or half-naked and only inches from each other.
I guess we don't need the shower curtain.
Usually, she showers while I'm brushing my teeth and shaving. She finishes and steps out, leaving the water to run. She brushes her teeth, blowdries her hair, and puts on her make-up while I shower.
We're used to seeing each other's bodies, with only a thin veil between us.
I sometimes wonder what would happen if I finished brushing my teeth and didn't bother to shave, and just got in the shower with her. Little as I like that metaphysical veil between us, it might just come in handy.
