The living room is a kingdom of dust and light. I sit on the sofa and stare into the patterns of the dust swirling in the light, and try to ignore the shape the patterns make.
Black and white of course, because dust doesn't have color. Her gray eyes should be gold, but that rich sable hair is the same. She looks so sorrowfully at me and holds out our son.
Our son, whom her actions killed. She herself is to blame for both of their deaths.
But I am to blame as well. "Get thee gone, darkness," I say.
